California 12-Hour Ethics Prelicensing Course
This is the required Ethics course for California insurance licensing. Complete this course to satisfy the Ethics requirement and generate your completion certificate.
Note (Effective Jan 1, 2026): California DOI compliance requires Ethics to be completed as a standalone 12-hour course. If you have not already completed the 12-hour Ethics & California Insurance Code requirement, start here.
Who needs Ethics?
You need this course if:
You are applying for your first California insurance license (P&C or Life & Health).
You have not previously completed the 12-hour Ethics course requirement prior to January 1, 2026
You do NOT need this course if:
You already hold a California insurance license and already satisfied the Ethics requirement for that license.
You are adding a second license and your Ethics requirement is already on file.
